Twitter Detritus (06-10)

Another month’s worth of mental flotsam and jetsam in chewable, easy-to-swallow, tweet-sized bites:

  • 03 – Should be a fun day. Half the staff is out and I’m getting a root canal. The fun never ends.
  • 03 – Finished reading “Samadhi Pada”. Won’t claim to understand it all but many ideas I held before yoga became more clear and better defined.
  • 05 – Broke a crown this morning whilst eating my toast. May have been the one that just had the root canal. Argh!
  • 06 – Watched Alice in Wonderland last night. Enjoyed it. Yellowbeard and Dogma today. Good movies too.
  • 06 – Some tempus nudus this afternoon. So free, so comfortable, so relaxing.
  • 08 – Pain that has not yet come is avoidable. ~ The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, II.16
  • 10 – Very good hot yoga class with Courtney last night. Good pace and flow, very sweaty but not tiring. Savasana came too soon.
  • 10 – Re: last tweet. I was referring strictly to the yoga practice. Nothing else implied, inferred or intended.
  • 10 – Saw a “NOBAMA” bumpersticker. What’s this guy got against Alabama?
  • 12 – Good yoga class this morning. Substitute teacher which always makes it interesting. Sorry, can’t get my shoulder under my knee yet.
  • 13 – Boring details of my life today: yoga, lunch, haircut, shopping, laundry, history lesson to granddaughter, home, dinner, reading. and so on.
  • 13 – Awaiting Mama’s return. It’s been a long weekend without her.
  • 14 – Seriously considering turning in early tonight, just to see what it’s like to get 6 hours of sleep.
  • 15 – Touchdown Jesus destroyed by an act of God. Oh, the irony! 16,000 lbs of Styrofoam around a 60-ft tall lightning rod. What’d ya expect?
  • 17 – Today’s mystery: All of my clean underwear has disappeared. Underpants gnomes? What will I do if I get in an accident?
  • 18 – Mystery remains unsolved. Found a pair the underpants gnomes missed. (“Take underpants, make profit.”)
  • 18 – Mower has been running great but tonight, no joy. Hoping it’s something as simple as an air filter. With me, it’s never that simple.
  • 19 – Picked up and installed new washer. Ran a couple loads while I read the instructions.
  • 20 – New underpants for Father’s Day! Nothing lacy but still quite functional. Thanks Honeyko.
  • 22 – Another day of wearing pants. Looking forward to Saturday.
  • 24 – So tired this morning. Yoga tonight? It may depend on my hip. Listening to my body and it’s saying, “Ouch!”
  • 25 – Finished Sadhana Pada in the Yoga Sutras. Good stuff.
  • 25 – Looking forward to visiting Dad this weekend as well as side trip to Westfield and SDF. Relaxation, meditation and tempus nudus.
  • 27 – Had a great weekend. Spent some quality time with Dad. Also freehiked Chautauqua Gorge on Saturday – great fun.
  • 30 – Late start this morning, an hour after I should have gotten up. I hate being in a rush.
  • 30 – Pulled muscle is feeling much better today, just the usual aches and pains. Planning on yoga with Abigail tomorrow. I’ve missed my practice.

  • 23 – Great yoga practice this morning. Meditation & savasana were truly peaceful, would love to have that peace all the time.

  • 29 – Back into the Yoga Sutras again. This time reading w/o taking notes, letting my mind absorb it naturally. So far, that seems to be working.
  • 30 – The refrain of Waltzing Matilda has been stuck in my head all morning. Where did that come from?
  • 30 – It has begun. Backing up & getting ready to reload the computer. Been putting it off too long. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
  • 30 – The computer is resisting Windows XP. Methinks its time to upgrade the hardware. The computer gods have spoken.

  • 02 – 17 Ridiculous Laws still on the books. Have to wonder why some of these were passed in the first place.
  • 02 – Shaving cream rubbed into bathroom mirror prevents steam from condensing on it. The things I learn watching BBC-America.
  • 04 – RT @nakedjen: Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Appreciate your friends.
  • 04 – Just watched “Howard the Duck”. Suddenly finding yourself in Cleve-Land can be very traumatic. I know.
  • 04 – Hot Tub Time Machine, I have no desire to revisit 1986.
  • 05 – Who Do You Think You Are (NBC) good show on genealogy. I wish I could travel to do it. Could spend months in the NE researching ancestors.

  • 07 – Almost 50 deg today. Washed car & truck. They look prettier. I’m sure they’re grateful.

  • 07 – @paulapoundstone I’m sure boxers & halter top will be just fine for the Oscars.
  • 08 – Self-checkouts add too much stress to my life. I prefer to avoid them if at all possible. Give me a moderately competent human any day.
  • 08 – @penguingeek I find them to be even less patient & more nit-picky than I am. Tend to be very accusing too.
  • 08 – @penguingeek Some days you can’t find a moderately competent human, especially at Wally World.
  • 10 – Acceptance does not imply satisfaction or approval. It is what it is. Make it better if you can otherwise, accept it for what it is.
  • 11 – Light at the end of the tunnel and, for once, it’s not an oncoming train. This chapter may soon be over.
  • 11 – D-I-L thanked me for help with recent plumbing crisis by taking me to lunch. That’s what I do. “To serve and maintain.”
  • 12 – My host seems to be down, hope it’s back up soon. The world needs to be connected to my stuff. OK, I need to be connected to my stuff.
  • 13 – We want entertainment in full color, big screen HD yet we look at real life in black and white on a small screen.
  • 13 – First yoga class in a couple of weeks. It was almost like starting completely over. Need to kick up my home practice a couple of notches.
  • 16 – Blood sugar is a bit high today. I was naughty last night and gave in to temptation. Have to be good today and get it down.
  • 16 – Spent a bit of quality time with the grandchildren. Abi is excited about going to a yoga class. I wonder if she’ll take over the class.
  • 17 – Sewed buttons on 2 shirts and the leg on a rabbit. Also did the dishes. I’m so domesticated.
  • 17 – Stupidity kills … but not enough to actually help.
  • 18 – Abi enjoyed kids’ yoga class while I tried something a little bit different, a slower paced, more relaxing yoga class. It was a nice change.
  • 20 – Attending the Wright-Patt BX spring fashion show today. 2 grandchildren in it. Missing yoga class but I’ll try to make up for it later.
  • 21 – Watching “American Beaver.” Interesting.
  • 21 – Learned that a well-groomed beaver is nearly waterproof. Did not know that.
  • 21 – Been fixing old blog posts, mostly updating links & stuff. Interesting rants, opinions & observations, many haven’t changed over the years.
  • 22 – Hot yoga tonight. Nice Salamba Sarvangasana and assisted full Urdhva Dhanurasana. Even Virabhadrasana I & II felt pretty good.
  • 23 – Dayton made the list of 10 worst allergy cities in the U.S. Yay Dayton!
  • 24 – Still going thru blogs, fixing links and updating. Good stuff, fun reading it again. Most opinions have not changed. Good or bad? I dunno.
  • 24 – Question 4.5 yrs ago – “Is yoga for me?” Why 4 yrs to check it out & answer it? Like other fave pastimes, should have done it sooner.
  • 25 – STOP: 0x00000000 BAD_CHOICE_OF_OPERATING_SYSTEM.
  • 26 – Jason & the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans on TCM. 4 hours I’ll never get back.
  • 27 – Watched Kids’ Choice Awards with my granddaughter. I think they should incorporate slime into Oscars, Grammies, and Peoples Choice Awards.
  • 28 – 34 years together, taking care of each other through it all. It’s what we do for each other that makes us happy. Oh, how I love her.
  • 29 – Hot yoga canceled tonight. I was really looking forward to it. I’m sure I’ll find something to do in its place.
  • 30 – Just watched Matthew Broderick episode of WDYTYA. Enjoyed it. Celeb ancestors are just as interesting as mine but who’d put my quest on TV?
  • 30 – I hate plumbing! Simple task has turned into a major project looking for a Rube Goldberg solution. All the pipes are in the wrong place.
  • 31 – Pretty good hot yoga class. Definitely needed it after afternoon under the sink. Similar positions but yoga is much more fun.

Twitter Detritus (02-10)

Another month’s worth of mental flotsam and jetsam in tweet-sized bites:

  • 01 – Choice between cabbage rolls and hot yoga. Culinary bliss won out over karmic bliss. Maybe I’ll do 2 classes Wednesday night.
  • 02 – The temp job is kinda mindless and repetitive but I’m OK with that right now. Doing it for a living? Probaby not. (No, not yoga stripper)
  • 03 – Great hot yoga class this evening. The yoga fairy smiled upon me tonight. Everything flowed, culminated by a near perfect shoulder stand.
  • 04 – Good yoga class tonight. Parsva Bakasana still unattainable. Salamba Sarvangasana was pretty good though.
  • 05 – So far the worst part of this “snow storm” are the idiots who still haven’t figured out how to drive in this crap. OMG! Snow in Ohio? WTF?
  • 05 – Can’t I rant in the privacy of my own room? Ignore anything you hear coming from there. Let me let off steam, OK?
  • 06 – Driveway is cleared. Heavy, wet snow. I’m good until more snow falls or a snowplow comes by. I didn’t miss this in Hawaii.
  • 08 – Is Matt Groening a nudist? I like Futurama’s positive treatment of casual nudity. Would love to visit the Nude Beach Planet.
  • 09 – Cleared drive & sidewalk after work. Will I have to do it again in the morning? Better to go to the snow than have the snow come to you.
  • 09 – According to Yoga Journal quiz the right form of yoga for me is Kundalini Yoga. I’ve tried it but didn’t seem a good fit. Take another look?
  • 10 – Just drifting snow in the drive. No point in shoveling it yet. The wind will just fill it up again. Sis, send some 64° weather my way.
  • 10 – Good hot yoga class. Small classes are great.
  • 11 – Good yoga class. Full back bend wasn’t happening but I did a rather nice headstand. Had a good chat with the owners too.
  • 12 – If you half-ass half-assery is it quarter-assery? Inquiring minds want to know.
  • 13 – Had a pretty good class this A.M.. Good workout, good sweat. Tired but refreshed. Famished too.
  • 14 – Quality time together today. Brunch at Fairborn Family Diner and grocery shopping. Who says romance is dead?
  • 15 – Long ago, in a faraway land, we ate pizza naked in the wee hours of the morning. Why? Because we were hungry.
  • 15 – Not much snow this AM. Cleared the driveway in anticipation of the next round. I do hope hot yoga is on for tonight.
  • 16 – Shoveled the driveway again. The mountains at the end of the drive are getting too high to throw the snow over. Had enough snow, thank you.
  • 17 – Didn’t have to shovel any snow today. Temps may get above freezing in the next few days. That would feel so wonderful!
  • 17 – Great hot yoga tonight. Towel helped keep the mat dry but need a longer one. Maybe I can put my sewing skills to use here.
  • 18 – Good yoga class. Some areas resist the natural yogic state a lot more than others. Some of that may be mental blocks I need to let go of.
  • 19 – I don’t know why Tiger Woods owes me an apology but if it will help him move on with his life then I forgive him. Now, Tiger, sin no more.
  • 19 – @gymnosophy I question clothing, I question authority, I even question my sanity.
  • 20 – Like I needed another blog. Adho Mukha Svanasana, getting down with the down dog.
  • 20 – Great class today. Even core work wasn’t too bad. Warrior poses still getting protests. I’m very tired, thirsty and hungry now. Lunch!
  • 20 – Why does it take so fargin’ long for my tweets to migrate to Facebook? Do they have to go through airport security or something?
  • 20 – Spent a lovely evening with my grandchildren. We had spaghetti, popcorn & hot cocoa (not all at once). Fun times, I treasure them.
  • 22 – RT @nakedjen: Life requires peace. Peace requires balance. And balance requires a certain amount of get-over-yourself. Amen.
  • 22 – As usual, installing a simple ceiling light is not as simple as it should be. Builders half-assed everything. Curse you, Mr. Huber!
  • 22 – Success! New kitchen light fixture installed despite half-assed electric box. Made it work. I am freakin’ awesome. Major self-esteem points.
  • 22 – Looking forward to B.K. Power Yoga tonight. Hope I can leave my ego at home so I can be in the moment and just let go.
  • 25 – Bryan Kest Power Yoga was awesome. Like his perspective. Asana portion left me sweat-soaked and tired. It was good, all good.
  • 25 – Good yoga class. Still seems to be a lot of resistance to my natural state.
  • 27 – doesn’t see much snow in his driveway but it still needs to be shoveled. Shouldn’t there be an app for that?
  • 27 – 1st instruction for bathroom shelf: “Assembly should be carried out by a qualified person.” Did it anyway. Never let that stop me before.

Voter’s Remorse – Happens after voting for Obama.
While it’s true that I’m disappointed by his first year in office, I’m still waiting for all the change that was promised and it seems to be the same shit with a different face, I don’t regret voting against a McCain-Palin presidency. The idea that Sarah Palin could have been a heartbeat away from occupying the Oval Office is pretty scary. For the record, I didn’t vote “for” Obama; I voted “against” Palin. Had there been a viable third-party candidate, I might have voted against Obama too.
Tiger Woods needs more than Buddha
Perhaps, but Christianity may not necessarily be what he needs. Buddha is not a God to be worshiped or even an equivalent of Jesus Christ. A Buddha is simply someone who has achieved enlightenment and transcended desire which is believed by Buddhists to be the root cause of all suffering. Buddhists revere the Buddha (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta), who achieved enlightenment and then established the Buddhist teachings, but they do not worship him. Being a Christian doesn’t by any means guarantee one will not stray from one’s religious teachings. Whatever it is that Tiger Woods needs, it’s up to him to find it.

Seen on televison recently:

Quietus tinnitus relief
The product supposedly provides relief from the ringing, buzzing, humming and roaring in the ears. I don’t know if the stuff works but I was wondering how effective it might be in providing relief from the voices in my head.
Optrix 3-D Bubbles
This is some kind of toy that makes bubbles and requires special goggles to create glare effects. Why does the commercial make the distinction between 3-D and 2-D bubbles? I thought all bubbles were three-dimensional. A two-dimensional bubble existing in space just isn’t possible. Even it were flat it would still have depth. Just a little confused, I guess.
Solving History with Olly Steeds
I’ve found the show sort of interesting but it seems to be in the same vein as MonsterQuest, UFO Hunters, and Ghost Hunters in that he doesn’t seem to actually solve anything. I don’t believe he found the Ark of the Covenant or the Nazi treasure (The Amber Room). Like the simliar shows, his methods seem questionable and his evidence circumstantial and inconclusive.

Heard on the radio recently:

Bankruptcy with dignified solutions. Apparently, it was some kind of debt solution scheme, promising you could declare bankruptcy and keep your car and your home while maintaining your dignity. My experience was that I got to keep my house and my vehicles but my dignity was among the first casualties of the process.

More flotsam and jetsam from the shipwreck of my mind in 140 characters or less:

  • Got a crap load of things to do today. I hate moving and I’m not even the one moving.
  • One day is not enough time to move a household. Legs and shoulders are feeling the burn. Looking forward to a full night’s sleep.
  • Big, ugly bruises on upper arms and thighs. Glad the big stuff is mostly in place now.
  • Great yoga class. Good workout, feeling very relaxed and, strangely, hungry. Is there a connection?
  • Watched half of Secret Girlfriend on Comedy Central. Lame, totally lame. Adolescent humor at its most pathetic.
  • Dyed this afternoon and reportedly look 10 years younger. Don’t have to look like Mom.
  • SCAT in Springfield. I’ve got to get pictures and post them. It’s everywhere.
  • Just wondering. What’s with all the fishing shows on the Discovery Channel? What’s next? Baiting Bass with Bob?
  • Don’t bitch about the exorbitant extra fees the airlines are charging, just stop flying.
  • “Watch any game you want when you want.” I’m already doing that without DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. I’m watching all the games I want!
  • Had a dream this morning about the Duncan Donuts girl in San Angelo. What was her name? Gosh, that was such a long time ago.
  • The Duncan Donuts girl’s name was Grace. The name just suddenly popped into my head.
  • Morning comes too damned early in the morning.
  • Got something in the mail saying I’ve been “pre-forgiven.” Now I can sin with impunity.
  • Chicken for dinner this evening. She doesn’t eat her chicken naked but she doesn’t mind if I do.
  • Grease fires & exploding microwave ovens on Mythbusters. Definitely a do not try this at home episode. Cool to watch though.
  • Another good class and a lot of closeness. But so focused I hardly noticed. It’s like that sometimes.
  • Best simile heard this week – “like a white trash bar mitzvah” (The Jeff Dunham Show, 10/29/09). I’m trying to visualize it.
  • Learned a new word, PORMEDY. Porn + Comedy. It aptly describes a lot of the porn I’ve seen. Deep Throat and Captain Lust come to mind.
  • Remember, inspired by a true story doesn’t mean that it IS a true story.
  • I messed up. The Great Wall of China was not supposed to go. Apparently it had monetary value or something. I explicitly asked permission.
  • Soon I’ll have to turn out the lights and pretend I’m not home. Why should I contribute to tooth decay, obesity, and diabetes?

September’s Twitter Detritus

This month’s detritus in 140 characters or less:

  • Time to put pants on. I’ll get complaints if I don’t. Some who matter DO mind.
  • Can I declare karmic bankruptcy and have my karmic debt wiped out? Or will that destroy my karmic credit in the next life?
  • If I join a nudist colony, can I encourage the others to break free and fight for their independence?
  • Today’s quote: “The truth may set you free but first it’s going to piss you off.” – attributed to Gloria Steinem. I like it.
  • A brain supplement? I know of many who could use that. Wait, must have brain to supplement it. Oh, never mind then.
  • Flipping thru channels. Apparently Bigfoot is chillin’ near some small town in Oklahoma. He gets around but no one can find real evidence.
  • 2057 – will be possible to never be away from job. Is that a good thing? Probably not.
  • 2057 – Reassuring to know that in the future, computers will still crash & technology will still fail. But Big Brother will be more capable.
  • Are technology and simplicity mutually exclusive? Shouldn’t the purpose of technology be to simplify?
  • Trivial question. Are trivial answers worth 99-cents apiece? (Plus the cost of a text message)
  • How can I feel so listless when I have so many lists?
  • Watched “Angel On My Shoulder” (1946) – Paul Muni, Anne Baxter, Claude Rains. Good movie. Love the classics.
  • Fried chicken – Once you peel them, there isn’t much meat on them.
  • Reading @fireland‘s tweets. LMAO!
  • I prefer to eat my chicken naked.
  • Modern mantras: It’s not your fault. You have legal options. You may be entitled to compensation. You don’t have to change your lifestyle.
  • I suppose duct tape could be used to fix a broken heart. Makes sense to me.
  • Waiting for the DNA test results. Hopefully, it will prove that I’m not the mother.
