Here is October’s harvest of mental flotsam and jetsam in chewable, easy-to-swallow, tweet-sized bites:
- 01 – Appointments went well this morning. My diagnosis confirmed, consultation done and treatment scheduled. it should always be this simple.
- 01 – Date night – dinner, haircuts, and Walmart – home by nine.
- 02 – Meditation in Motion workshop at Yoga Springs canceled. Disappointed. Hope it will be rescheduled.
- 03 – …fear and love…love and fear…waltzing at the edge…which one leads?… ~ Yoga for Cynics
- 04 – Are we so dependent on binary systems that we look at the world in terms of binary choices? The world is still analog.
- 05 – Mapping of the cat brain: That explains a lot of things.
- 05 – Nice gentle yoga practice. Had to modify it a bit to avoid some poses. Gentle for next couple of months for sure.
- 06 – Folk’s 57th anniversary, the love endures. Thinking of Mom
- 07 – What does it imply when your boss tells you to go to a job interview?
- 07 – Small yoga class 2nite, just two students. Complimented on my Trikonasana. Left side was way better than the right but I’m okay with that.
- 10 – Late to bed, late to rise. It’s the weekend, right? Spaghetti burrito for lunch, not as messy as a spaghetti taco.
- 10 – Today is 101010. That’s 42 in decimal. Won’t happen again for another century.
- 11 – “Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels.” ~ Bob Thaves
- 12 – Lyric going thru my head this AM: “Everybody’s got something to hide except me and my monkey.”
- 15 – Dark Side vanquished, no longer a threat. Darkness removed, soul healing well, minor scarring. Your Dark Side experience may be different.
- 15 – Pre-admission appointment went very well. Biggest concern is how soon I can get back to my regular yoga practice. Confident about surgery.
- 18 – Another Monday, last week at GSH? Having prom date syndrome. I hate being a mushroom.
- 18 – Prom date called back with an offer I couldn’t refuse. 1 Nov, same place, new company. Not exactly sure what I’ll be doing. It’ll work out.
- 19 – Awesome yoga class tonight. Very small class but the Force was strong with us. And it was quite meditative and relaxing.
- 21 – Mind playing tricks. Thought I forgot to call to confirm for Monday. Panic. Then remembered it’s Thursday. Still plenty of time to forget.
- 23 – “Television makes people afraid, whilst reassuring them that they’re safe as long as they watch it.” ~ Ben Ralston
- 24 – Grandkids spent the night. It’s the only time I get pancakes for breakfast. No point in making them for just two.
- 24 – Disabled Clone Wars Vet (“friendly” light saber incident)
- 25 – Better get some clothes on although I’ll be taking them off again in about an hour. Rather, exchanging them for a stylish open-backed gown.
- 26 – Surgery went well. Now in the recovery phase. Vicodin is my friend. Looking forward to renewed yoga practice but not rushing it.
- 27 – Getting around a little better this evening but still slow. Noticed some unexpected swelling, no wonder it’s hard to walk.
- 29 – Been watching the old Peter Cushing Frankenstein movies from the 50s on TCM. Great classic movies.
- 30 – Missing my yoga practice and looking for safe asana to assist recovery and healing. Of course, I will work with my doctor and my guru.
- 30 – Watching the rally to restore sanity and/or fear.
- 30 – Sanity unrestored, fear still present. Turning down the volume, listening to the silence.
- 31 – @nudiarist: Thanks for the link. Much the same problems 40 yrs later. Nudism needs better PR but “Sparky” isn’t the answer.
Added bonus — The Great American Mantras:
- “It’s not my fault.”
- “I may be entitled to monetary compensation.”
- “I can get the ______ that I deserve.”
- “I don’t have to change my lifestyle.”
