All of the ongoing rhetoric about the separation of church and state, the nanny state, and nearly every other issue dividing America are merely diversions to keep the minds of the hoi polloi off the real problem, namely, the rise of the corporate state, a totalitarian and oppressive form of capitalism in which the government is run by and for the corporations. Where the corporate “person” has greater freedoms, privileges and rights than natural citizens. It is Thomas Jefferson’s worst nightmare come true. In the corporate state you can participate in the free market only if you’re big enough to play the game, other wise you’ll be squashed. It is Capitalism in its purest, most evil form. The American dream and all that goes with it is reserved for the wealthy. The middle class need not apply but they may watch quietly from the sidelines. The poor shouldn’t even bother to show up. Lincoln’s vision of “by the people, of the people, for the people” has been relegated to the annals of forgotten history.
