Change is upon us, resistance is futile.

Our current economic, monetary and political systems are not sustainable. They are already breaking down as people fearfully scramble to hold onto whatever they can from these systems. Change is upon us, resistance is futile. It’s already happening.

These huge, cumbersome, monolithic systems are crumbling under their own weight and their inability to adapt. Just as Soviet communism collapsed under the massive weight of the infrastructure needed to keep it going, so will the Republican Party’s vision of capitalism. It can’t be sustained except through a massive infrastructure powered by fear, intimidation and ignorance. A middle road somewhere between socialism and capitalism will arise and it will be self-sustaining and adaptable.

I foresee the demise of large cities. It’s been happening for decades. I think self-sustaining suburban and rural communities will be the wave of the future. What metropolises that survive will do so because they’ve found ways to be responsibly sustainable by growing and manufacturing most of what they need. I see communities based on common goals, cooperation and compassion. That may sound like some kind of hippie dream but the current systems of greed, avarice, gluttony, apathy, intolerance, fear, hate and ignorance simply have to give way to something that works for the benefit of all rather than for a privileged few.

I hope I’m wrong, I hope these aberrations in our economic, monetary and political systems will correct themselves and find a middle path where sanity and rationality prevail to replace the reckless path of fear and ignorance.
