I don’t really see any contradiction and see no reason why they can’t coexist. Creationism is a belief based on faith and literal interpretation of Scripture while evolution is a theory based on observation and the scientific method. While many theologians and lay persons have claimed creationism to be fact, no scientist, as far as I know, has claimed evolution to be anything but a theory. If evolution was proven fact, it wouldn’t be called a theory. It would be the Law of Evolution or something like that.
As near as I can tell, Intelligent Design is something else entirely and seems rather illogical and ill-conceived. Intelligent design seems to preclude the idea that any species can change, adapt or even mutate. It would also seem to rule out possibilities such as birth defects or genetic engineering.
The physical universe is constantly changing and to survive, a species must adapt. A species that does not adapt to the changing universe becomes extinct.
My views, perceptions and ideas about things are rarely at either end of the spectrum. They’re not liberal or conservative, black or white, red or blue. They tend to be somewhere in between, floating about in the muddled shades of gray. Absolutes are difficult to deal with because they tend to be inflexible and hard to move or remove. The murky gray areas are much more pliable and more interesting. You may not agree with me and, frankly, I don’t care whether you do or not. If you were offended, that was your choice, not mine. You need to work that out with yourself.
