Going Nowhere in any World

Today’s Quote: “I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.” ~ Hunter S. Thompson.

In one world you’re being pulled in several directions at once by tasks, projects, and issues that all scream loudly for your undivided attention. At any given moment, you don’t know which way to go. In most cases, you either go for the crisis of the moment or do nothing at all.

In the other world you also have tasks, projects, and issues demanding your attention but you’re generally so burnt out from the frustrations from the first world that you pay no heed and you’re not drawn in any particular direction at all. You just sort of float in limbo.

You’ve found that being pulled in many directions at once or in no direction at all has the essentially the same effect — you go nowhere.

I felt some kind of crud coming on yesterday afternoon — sore throat and a fever. When I got home I took some nighttime cold medicine and spent the bulk of the evening on the couch going in and out of sleep. Even after going to bed, I continued to go in and out of sleep. Today I’m feeling better but it’s still with me. I’m hoping that it doesn’t develop into “The Crud” like I had last year. That was horrible. I’m hoping this crud will pass quickly so maybe I can go skinny-dipping tomorrow night.
