Today’s Quote: “It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.” — Epictetus
By some calendars, today is the male equivalent of Valentines Day where chocolates and flowers are replaced by two things men greatly appreciate. I’ve seen some references placing it later in the month but the 14th just seems to be the most logical date. It’s also Pi Day. If I have to explain it, never mind.
Today was a totally non-productive day at work, more unproductive than usual.. Here’s a brief summary of nine hours I’ll never get back:
8:00 -8:30 Arrive at work, set up laptop, check email, delete spam, update files, yadda-yadda-yadda
8:30-9:30 Mess around with the backup server and tape library. (Backup Exec for Netware, hate it very much, I do.)
9:30-10:00 Weekly meeting with immediate supervisor
10:00-11:30 Weekly group meeting with demo of data warehousing project (Didn’t understand a bit of it)
11:30-1:00 Monthly group luncheon at the Golden Corral (immediate supervisor picked location)
1:00-2:30 Catch up on and log new help desk tickets that piled up while in meetings and at lunch
2:30-3:00 Drive to Troy
3:00-5:00 At Troy where not much happens but there just in case something does (Nothing did)
5:00 Go home.
Friday is “Sports Day” at work. There will be free wings from BW3 (and fish sandwiches for those who devoutly observe Lent). Employees are being encouraged to wear something that represents their favorite sport. Somehow I don’t think the uniform for naked co-ed volleyball will go over very well. Just a bit too casual for Casual Friday, I guess.
