Today’s Quote: “It is always the best policy to speak the truth, unless of course you are an exceptionally good liar.” — Jerome K. Jerome
Today is Fat Tuesday, your last chance to party before Easter unless, of course, you don’t observe Lent in which case I guess it doesn’t matter. But if you do observe Lent, there is a loophole; Sundays don’t count. I guess there’s an unrealistic assumption in the Christianity by-laws that you’re pious and well behaved on Sunday. I can’t speak for anyone else but my piety is rather consistent throughout the week.
In the spirit of Lent, I’ll try to give up something. Last year I attempted to give up soft drinks and swearing; I failed miserably. This year I’m probably setting myself up for failure but I’m going to take on one of my most pernicious and persistent demons — Internet porn. And I don’t intended to take advantage of the Sunday loophole. Already I can hear my demons all sitting around the campfire laughing their asses off. Yes, they are confident.
Random thought of the day:
For the self-righteous, moral indignation may be the only thing that gives their shallow lives any meaning.
