Warren Zevon – Excitable Boy
Today’s Quote: “The reward for conformity was that everyone liked you except yourself.” — Rita Mae Brown
Middle School Girls Gone Wild
A very disturbing (at least it should be) editorial observation from today’s New York Times. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I really don’t think it’s right to be raising (or encouraging) our daughters and granddaughters to be sluts and whores. Let them be little girls as they grow up and then let them decide. Until they grow up and go out on their own, raise them to be respectable and to have self-respect. Parents need to take control and responsibility for raising their children.
It’s okay to reject pop culture, really. Doing so will do wonders for your self-esteem. Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are NOT role models; they’re bad examples. Or good examples of what not to do with your life. By the way, the dolls are called Bratz because Slutz and Whorez weren’t politically correct enough. Or would that be Hoze?
Excitable Boy by Warren Zevon, Excitable Boy (1978)
The song is kind of disturbing. If you listen closely, many of his songs are disturbing, in an entertaining sort of way.
